ALFA ROMEO '73 SPIDER ~ BEFORE & AFTER

The clients' goal was to have the interior and engine bay refurbished. They had owned this '73 Spider for twenty four
years. There were also a number of 'details' on the exterior, trunk, floors, exhaust, and rims which also needed attending to.

While the engine had been rebuilt 30k miles ago, after driving and further tests, it was obvious the engine would have to be
rebuilt. As work progressed it was requested to 'add some power' to the engine. The following is only a partial list of the detailed
items which were accomplished: The engine's / clutch's rotating parts were balanced; 10:1 pistons & liners,
and 11.3 lift camshafts were installed along with a rebuilt Spica pump.

In the interior extensive floorboard deterioration was cut out and replaced. The cracked dash and center console, along with the
glove box door were totally recovered. The vinyl and foam was removed and replaced with vacuum formed high quality materials.

Since the clients live in the desert, the seat material was replaced with a combination of solid and perforated leather.
The custom door panels were made of the same material and designed to accommodate the 4 x 6 Eclipse coaxial speakers behind the perforated inserts. A JBL base speaker mounted in the passenger's kick panel, along with an Alpine amplifier
greatly boost the power and sonics of the original Clarion radio.
A discreet toggle switch cuts power to the amp and power antenna as required.

One of the installations is a set of diagonal safety belts. The belts themselves come from England with other key items
coming from a variety of sources. These belts are currently being offered for Series 1 & 2 Alfa Spiders: Spider Seat Belts

The tires were removed and the desirable MOMO rims were bead blasted and coated with a clear matte finish.
Custom wheel centers were specially ordered and installed.

It is our opinion this is one of the smoothest running and powerful street Alfas we've restored, which along with the safety of
diagonal safety belts and an extremely nice sound system, make this an especially reliable,
comfortable and enjoyable frequent driver.
